After three years of construction, which ended this summer, the settlers of the capital’s Santariškės settlement will receive a housewarming party, which will be held on September 23 by real estate development companies Eika and Hanner.

The organizers hope that the festival will encourage people to get to know not only their closest neighbors, who live in the stairwells with only 25 apartments, but also the people who have recently moved here. Therefore, the festival program is intended for residents of all age categories: the youngest will be told fairy tales by Giannis Rodaris by the actors of “Teatriukas”, the youth group “Bekešo vilkai” will perform for teenagers, and the oldest participants of the festival will be given an open-air cinema – the VŠĮ “Meno avilys” will show the classic film “Balius” by Etore Scola.

In the meadow opposite the Santariškės settlement, Lithuanian percussion virtuoso Gediminas Laurinavičius and the group “Drum Party” hope to create a unified rhythm of eighty drums together with the festival participants. The rest will be able to participate in a cheerful “Tomato Battle”, jump in “classes” or roll around the meadow in transparent balls.

“The idea of the settlement was to create a new Lithuanian community, where neighbors know each other. I thought about it for five years, traveling around Scandinavia and analyzing architectural models. Today I know that the idea was successful,” says Robertas Dargis, director of UAB Eika.

The name of the event “Fairytale Meadow” is also not accidental – the residents of 725 apartments are different personalities, with their own tastes and priorities, so the organizers thought about a democratic event that could take place in different parts of the meadow at the same time. And so that the time does not drag on, an 18-meter-long grill train will also roll into the Santariškės settlement – the organizers will take care of the coal, and the festival participants will bring their own barbecues.

“It is important to us how our clients are doing – not only when buying a home, but also when they are already living in it. This event is a nice continuation of communication. I am sure that such celebrations will become a tradition,” says Vladas Kojala, CEO of AB “Hanner”.

According to residents, this quarter is home to a young and “suited” generation, ambitious and constantly in a hurry. Although they tend to help each other, the residents of Santariškės do not yet form associations. They discuss everyday problems in their own opinion forum.

“Even though you’re in the city, it feels like you live by the sea. It’s also nice because most of your neighbors are young maximalists, around thirty, so their wings haven’t been broken by the storms of life yet,” says Olesia Ščerba, 27, the commercial director of UAB “Modux”.

Olesia and her friend Aurimas moved to the Santariškės settlement a year ago and therefore feel like a true veteran of the “relaxation quarter”, as she calls her home. She likes the tidy environment – flowers are planted, the grass is constantly cut, although the residents pay for these services themselves.

“I’ll only make it to the end of the celebration because I have to attend antenatal classes,” says 25-year-old Irena Gaidukevičė, who is also in a hurry and works as an accountant at UAB “Stenderis”. She moved to the settlement just a month ago and is only now finishing furnishing her apartment, which is still missing “living room furniture”.
