In Klaipėda, at Rambyno St. 14A, a new social apartment building construction project has been launched, the work of which is being carried out by the contractor UAB “EIKA Construction” (formerly – UAB “Eikos statyba”). On December 9, a symbolic capsule with a letter to future generations was concreted into the foundations of the future building, marking the beginning of the project.
The five-story apartment building with a basement will house 40 apartments – 20 one- and two-room apartments. Eight apartments are planned on the first floor, adapted for people with mobility disabilities and families with such people.
UAB “EIKA Construction” has committed to completing the construction work within 14 months. The project value is 2.64 million euros, of which 1.93 million euros were allocated from European Union funds, the rest from the municipal budget.
This project will contribute to the development of public housing construction in Klaipėda, ensuring the housing needs of socially vulnerable residents. Klaipėda City Municipality currently manages 552 social housing units, but the need remains high, so new projects help reduce the waiting list.
