The awards for the best real estate project were presented in Vilnius on Wednesday evening. The winners of the competition “For Sustainable Development” organized by the Lithuanian Real Estate Development Association and the Academy of Sustainable Development were awarded five statuettes. The most promising project received an award in the “Future Project” category, and readers of the competition partner 15min.lt chose their favorite among the participants.
This year, 16 projects participated in the competition. They were evaluated by representatives of the Lithuanian Union of Architects, the Lithuanian Builders’ Association, banks, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, the Ministry of the Environment, Vilnius City Municipality, the Lithuanian Real Estate Development Association, and the media.
Implemented in the center of Vilnius BASANAVIČIUS 9A elected best residential project. He was awarded for the subtle design and implementation of a modern architectural building in a historical setting. The project manager is UAB “Eika”, the designers are A. Karanauskas’ company, the architect is Rolandas Palekas.
“The project managers managed to create a project that naturally blends into the urban fabric of the capital’s Old Town, combining park and city life. The creators managed to maintain the concept, the main idea from the beginning to implementation, both in its composition, materials, and context in the environment,” said Linas Naujokaitis, a member of the commission and chairman of the Vilnius branch of the Lithuanian Union of Architects.
The traditional, non-commercial competition “For Sustainable Development” organized by the Lithuanian Real Estate Development Association together with the Sustainable Development Academy is open to all real estate developers. The main objectives of the competition are to foster sustainable development ideas, draw attention to and present to the public the best projects of real estate developers, and raise the bar of quality and innovation by presenting the best development examples.
Projects are evaluated based on the extent to which their concept meets the goals of sustainable urban development, quality of life, architectural, urban and construction quality, and respect for natural and cultural heritage. The energy solutions of buildings, the project’s compliance with the needs of the real estate sector, economic efficiency, and other criteria are also evaluated. Only buildings that have survived at least one winter can be awarded the main prize, so that the efficiency of energy solutions can be assessed.
UAB “EIKA” is the fifth recipient of the “For Sustainable Development” award organized by LNTPA. Since the beginning of the competition, “Santariškių namai” has been awarded twice, “Eika namai Pilaitė” and “Jūros vartai” have been awarded once each. In addition, Basanavičiaus 9A was recognized as the best residential project in the Baltic States this year.
