Prasideda konkursas „Padovanok Lietuvai viziją“

Prasideda konkursas „Padovanok Lietuvai viziją“.

The competition “Give Lithuania a Vision” begins.

Today, the weekly “Atgimimas” and the real estate development company “Eika” announce the second contest “Give Lithuania a Vision” and invite all Lithuanians living in their homeland and abroad to write about what Lithuania should be.

This year, citizens of other countries who live in Lithuania and can express their insights in English are also invited to participate in the competition. Until November 30, anyone who wishes, without any age, gender or education restrictions, can send their recipe for Lithuanian success to the editorial office of “Atgimimos”. The organizers offer ten topics for visionaries, which can be foundwww.atgimimas.lt.

Good ideas make the world go round and move people, say the organizers of the competition. On the other hand, it is a good opportunity to think not only about today, but also about how we could live in ten, fifteen or more years.

In the words of Indrė Makaraitytė, editor-in-chief of the weekly “Atgimimas”, “it is necessary to create a vision because only by participating can a person change the country in which he lives. If you don’t like something, grumbling and moaning won’t help. But if you have a good idea, then half the battle is already done.”

The organizers do not promise that the best visions will ever be implemented, but they promise to strive for it by sharing them with politicians, as well as with Lithuanian citizens who dream and do not dream. Perhaps the best insights will interest those who make decisions about state governance.

“The state must have its own direction of movement and goal. And the more people discuss those goals, the faster the words will ferment and turn into flesh. That is why we want to turn this competition into an engine of ideas, involving people capable of strategizing and creating the future in the creation of the state. After all, only by clearly knowing its goals can Lithuania find its place in the European and global space of the new times,” says Dargis, director of the company “Eika”.

As in any other competition, the winners of the Ideas Ring will be awarded prizes on January 8, 2008. The competition organizers have established the following main prizes – first place – LTL 15,000, second place – LTL 10,000, and third place – LTL 5,000. The winners of all ten competition categories will receive incentive prizes.

The idea for this competition was born a couple of years ago, also from a fantasy expressed in a voice. Editor Makaraitytė and businessman R. Dargis were then in a cafe discussing the potential of human creativity, about how brave and talented a person becomes when they believe in their ability to create and change life. That’s when they agreed to organize the competition together.

Pernai Lietuvos vizijos konkurso organizatoriai sulaukė 170 darbų. Porą mėnesių rašinius skaičiusi vertinimo komisija, kurioje darbavosi verslininkas R. Dargis, interneto portalo “Delfi” redaktorė Monika Garbačiauskaitė, politikos filosofas Alvydas Jokubaitis, politikos savaitraščio “Atgimimas” žurnalistas Stanislovas Kairys, ekonomistė Elena Leontjeva, ekonomistas Gitanas Nausėda, žurnalistas Romas Sakadolskis, alpinistas Vladas Vitkauskas ir verslininkas Antanas Zabulis, pernai pirmosios vietos neskyrė nė vienam rašiniui.

Antrąją vietą už viziją “Kurianti valstybė” pelnė jos autoriai Donatas Vainalavičius ir Raminta Dereškevičiūtė. Buvo skirtos trys trečiosios vietos: Valentinui Klimašauskui už viziją “Laiškas iš ateities”, autorių kolektyvui, susibūrusiam į draugiją “Nematerialaus turto fondas” – už viziją “Vizijos Lietuvai ir sau” bei Gintautui Krilavičiui už viziją “Tolerancijos mokykla”.
