Peculiarities of employment of third-country nationals

UAB “EIKA Construction” (formerly – UAB “Eikos statyba”) has started the recruitment process of third-country nationals in order to ensure the supply of qualified specialists required for construction projects. With a particular shortage of concrete workers, bricklayers and metal structure installers in the construction sector, the company is applying additional measures to attract employees in order to be able to stably carry out general contracting projects.

The search for employees was carried out through various channels – by advertising vacancies on online portals and in the press, as well as by accepting candidates who applied to the company themselves. Positive feedback from already employed specialists encouraged the interest of other candidates, which is why the company currently employs about 30 employees from Ukraine and Belarus.

An important step in the recruitment process was the inclusion of the company in the “List of Approved Companies”. This made it possible to employ third-country nationals faster – after submitting all the necessary documents, decisions on work permits are made within 15 calendar days. However, the procedure remains complicated, as the requirements are constantly changing, documents must be prepared and translated, and visits to state institutions are required.

The company believes that a more efficient system requires additional incentives for employers creating jobs: shorter deadlines for document legalization and issuance, and longer validity periods for permits. This would ensure smoother recruitment of specialists and stable execution of work in construction projects.
