New generation cottages – for comfortable and economical living

We present a new generation of cottages with the beautiful Lithuanian name “Mėta”, which implement many green solutions.

Previously, we have introduced many new, ecological and economical solutions that help ensure not only excellent quality of buildings, but also comfortable and energy-saving living in them. This time we are introducing a new generation of cottages with the beautiful Lithuanian name “Mėta”, which implement many green solutions, starting with 3-glazed windows and ending with solar collectors, which will help save up to 65 percent on water heating costs.
UAB “Santariškių namai” is developing the settlement and introducing a new generation of low-rise cottages, which feature apartments with individual entrances, terraces and private courtyards, named after “Mėta”.
In the second stage, it is planned to build six low-rise houses, each with 10-12 apartments with individual entrances. The first house “Mėta-1”, which has 10 apartments, has already been built. Currently, interior decoration works are being carried out. In March 2011. the first settlers will move into the house. The attractiveness and uniqueness of the product offered to the market is also confirmed by the extremely successful sales of apartments in this house – all 10 apartments have already been sold.  In the houses “Mėta-2” and “Mėta-4”, which will be built in 2011, apartment reservations have already begun.
“Mėta” houses are built in a unique location, surrounded by a forest near Verkiai Park. Each apartment in this project will have not only a cozy terrace or a spacious balcony, but also a private courtyard. The owners of the second floor will enter the apartment only from their own staircase, and they will be able to spend warm evenings on a huge terrace on the roof. Those who dream of a small house can purchase a cozy apartment – a cottage on two floors with a private courtyard here.
The new house stands out not only for its excellent location, but also for its exceptional quality. One of the most important highlights of the house is the top-class windows, which not only ensure heat and sound retention, but also protect against burglary and deformation due to temperature changes.
“The house has windows that were selected for their exceptional properties. We replaced the usual 2-glazed windows with 3-glazed windows, which not only ensure the most effective heat retention, but also increase sound insulation. Although the settlement near Verkiai Park is extremely quiet, we try to ensure that residents feel comfortable in their homes without hearing external sounds,” says Valdas Kaulinis, director of UAB “Santariškių namai”.
Windows made of REHAU’s new generation of Geneo® window profiles are distinguished by their excellent thermal insulation –  the thermal conductivity coefficient (Uw) of window structures installed in cottages ranges from 0.83 to 1.1 W/m2K) is significantly better than required by the Building Technical Regulations (STR). The profile core is made of glass fiber material RAU-FIPRO, which in most cases performs the function of a reinforcing profile. The visible profile height is only 115 mm, so more natural light enters the room through such windows than through windows from conventional window profile systems. The sound insulation of the windows reaches 5 – the highest noise insulation class.
Any good window will not perform its heat and sound insulation functions if it is installed incorrectly. The windows were manufactured and installed by UAB “Langasa” – a long-standing and reliable manufacturer of REHAU windows. The windows in the cottage “Mėta” were installed in accordance with strict installation requirements – the installation seam is protected with special installation films both from the inside of the building and from the outside. The quality of the work was strictly controlled by the contractor’s technical maintenance specialists.
The new “Mėta” houses are designed for the comfort and needs of residents. High ceilings, reaching up to 3 m, allow the apartment to be equipped with recuperation, which not only provides the living space with fresh air, but also allows you to save on heating costs. For the convenience of new residents, there is an option to install a fireplace, which will provide warmth and comfort to the house.
“Mėta-2” and “Mėta-4” homes will offer buyers even more smart solutions that will allow for efficient use of energy at home. “We chose energy-saving underfloor heating, which maintains heat using water at a temperature of +30 – +40 °C. Steel radiators will provide the same heat efficiency using only water at a temperature of +65 °C,” adds V. Kaulinis.
These houses also feature a new innovation in Lithuania – solar collectors, which will save up to 65 percent of water heating costs in the summer. Gas heating will also be installed, allowing you to start and end the heating season independently of centralized city heating.
The new “Mėta” homes are designed for those who value not only a high-quality home environment, but also energy saving.
