Managers want to spend more time at home

When asked if they would like to spend more time at home than they do now, as many as 74 percent of top and mid-level managers answered positively, according to a representative study on Lithuanians’ time habits when spending time at home, initiated by real estate development company Eika and conducted in September by market and public opinion research company Spinter tyrimai.

When asked if they would like to spend more time at home than they do now, as many as 74 percent of top and mid-level managers answered yes, according to a survey by real estate development companies. Go” initiated and market and public opinion research companies Spinter research” A representative survey was conducted in September about Lithuanians’ time habits while spending time at home.

During it, questions were asked about how much time Lithuanians devote to their family, home, and themselves, and how they spend their time at home after work. As many as 40 percent of Lithuanians holding high positions admitted that they lack time for their family, home, and recreation. At home after work, they only have time to eat and prepare for the next day.

“Business leaders, entrepreneurs, directors and owners of various companies are a group of people whose busy work schedules, business meetings, and business trips take up most of the day. Due to the work marathon and overtime, they often miss or don’t have time for the most important meeting of the day – a meeting with family and loved ones at home. For managers, home becomes just a stopover where they eat and sleep,” says Martynas Žibūda, Development Director of Eika.

According to him, finding a few free hours for family and home is often an impossible mission for managers. Almost 40 percent of managers indicated that they only spend 1 or 2 hours a day, or sometimes even less, on their family and home. And only 11 percent spend more than five or six hours on this.

“As the results of the survey showed, civil servants, small businessmen, farmers, and various technical workers find time for family and home more often than top-level company managers. However, all of them, without exception, indicated that they would like to spend more time at home than they do now. By declaring November 20th Home Day, we want to draw public attention to this situation,” says M. Žibūda.

On this day, the real estate development expert invites all working people to return home earlier than usual and spend the rest of the day with their family – cooking dinner together, playing board games or helping the children prepare for tomorrow’s classes. Finally, find time for a good book.
“We urge all managers to encourage their employees to return home earlier on this day. We also invite employers not to linger in their offices. Postpone work meetings, turn off computers, put documents aside, and devote your free afternoon to family and home. Home, which is always good to return to,” says M. Žibūda.

As the study shows, currently 12 percent of working Lithuanians return home from work by 5 p.m. An hour later – 17 percent of employees. Almost 13 percent of employed respondents return home between 6 and 7 p.m. The study showed that survey participants with higher incomes return home later.
