The Naujininkai district in Vilnius is rapidly changing its face after municipal and business investments. The beautifying public spaces, all the necessary amenities of city life, and the ability to quickly reach the city center while living close to nature are becoming significant arguments, due to which more and more people are starting to consider this district as a place for their dream home.
Industrial areas are turning into residential areas
The changes in Naujininkai are obvious. Former abandoned industrial areas are gradually being transformed into residential areas, while the surrounding environment is rapidly changing.
As planned in the ambitious Vilnius Connect plan, a recreation and entertainment town and green spaces will soon be created on Geležinkelios and Pelesos streets. Pedestrian connections between Naujininkai and Naujamiestis are also planned: the first one is between Šv. Stepona and Pelesos streets, the second one is between Algirdo street and Dzūkų street. The renovated Šviesos Square, located between Liepkalnis and Pelesos streets, will invite you to spend your free time in nature – pedestrian paths, a playground will be renovated here, and it is planned to install a sports field, lighting and cameras that will ensure the safety of the space.
The landscape of this area is also changing. The public institution “Vilnius City Parks” is preparing to manage a meadow overgrown with forest and bushes in the Naujininkai microdistrict, between Kaminkelis and Žirnių streets. It is hoped that after the currently abandoned meadow is cleaned up, its valuable properties highlighted, people’s attention drawn to the wonderfully beautiful trees and bushes blooming here, and other ideas refined, it will become another place visited by citizens, where nature and people are in harmony.
Appreciates convenient transportation
One of the biggest advantages of Naujininkai is its convenient infrastructure. Right here are the Old Town and the New Town, which are easily accessible on foot, by car and by public transport, and the southern bypass, which allows you to avoid traffic jams. It is also convenient for frequent travelers: right here is the international Vilnius Airport, and the new Rail Baltica railway will take you to Kaunas in 30 minutes, Riga in 2, and Tallinn in 4 hours.
The district is also conveniently accessible for cycling enthusiasts: in 2022, a bicycle path was completed, connecting this district with Naujamiestis, thus connecting it to the city-wide bicycle network.
Liepkalnis, beloved by Vilnius residents, is a ten-minute drive away. Some come here to enjoy the pleasures of skiing, others to watch planes take off and land.
A new modern neighborhood is emerging
Those looking for a new home are attracted to Kaminkelio Street in the southern part of Naujininkai, which is dominated by individual houses, hills and large green areas for recreation. EIKA Development, which belongs to the EIKA group, is developing the residential quarter “Nauji peizažai” here. The new settlement will house 3 houses with 103 apartments of various layouts and 3 commercial premises. Owners of many homes will be able to enjoy beautiful natural landscapes from their windows, and if necessary, they will be able to reach the city center in just over 10 minutes by car.
“More and more developers, businesses and new residents are seeing the potential of this district. As Vilnius expands, Naujininkai is becoming like an extension of Naujamiestis, and seeing the changes planned around it, for example, at Vilnius railway and bus stations, Vilnius Airport, and nearby territories, it is obvious that in the near future this will be one of the most modern and attractive districts for a modern person,” says Tomas Žiaugra, Director of the Development Department at EIKA Development.
