EIKA group of companies has agreed on the most powerful remote solar power plant in Lithuania for a single private company

The Eika Group of Companies and Eternia Solar have signed an agreement for the construction and operational maintenance of a solar power park with a total capacity of 5 MW. With this agreement, Eika boldly and confidently directs its activities in the direction of sustainability – from 2023. this power plant will meet 85 percent of the current energy needs of the Eika Group of Companies. The remote solar power plant will be built in the Klaipėda district near Priekulė. It will be the most powerful solar power plant built in one place in Lithuania, intended for one company operating in the private sector.

The Eika group of companies plans to invest almost EUR 4 million in the project. According to Domas Dargis, CEO of Eika, green energy is not new in the company’s activities. “Since 2016, we have been purchasing green electricity, which was used in commercial facilities, and currently all of our facilities use only such energy. Investments in our own remote solar power plant are not only another step in promoting the use of sustainable energy in the country, but also a strong demonstration of our determination to embark on a comprehensive path of sustainable activities,” says D. Dargis.

The 5 MW solar power plant is expected to generate approximately 160 GWh of electricity over its lifetime. This solar power park could provide electricity to approximately 1,200 households. Experts also estimate that this power plant will reduce more than 66,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions over its entire operational life.

When choosing a partner, Eika paid particular attention to the quality of the equipment and the durability of the proposed solution. The cooperation with Eternia Solar was determined by the company’s experience in implementing similar projects, the proposed equipment, and the most optimal engineering solution.

“Among our previously implemented projects is one of the most powerful solar power plants in Lithuania. We are pleased to be able to apply our experience and expertise to this ambitious project of the Eika group of companies. In order to achieve maximum efficiency of this solar power plant, top-class bifacial modules will be installed. In addition, after completing the contract work, we will also provide operational maintenance services to ensure the long-term and smooth operation of the solar power plant,” says Andrius Džiaugys, CEO of Eternia Solar LT.

The first preparatory works will begin in January 2022, and will be completed no later than December 31, 2022.
