EIKA Construction will build a new infectious diseases hospital in Panevėžys

Construction company belonging to the EIKA group EIKA Construction (formerly – UAB “EIKOS statyba”) signed an agreement with the Public Institution “Republican Panevėžys Infectious Hospital”, under which 4 old hospital buildings will be demolished and a new, modern building will be built in their place, where it would be possible to provide healthcare services safely and conveniently. The new hospital is planned to be built by mid-March 2026.

The signed contract stipulates that the value of this project reaches 20.29 million euros excluding VAT. The infectious diseases hospital building will have five floors, a basement, and a total area of about 7 thousand square meters. The contract was signed on July 26 and the construction is expected to be completed within 19 months. Representatives of EIKA Construction say that time will be the only challenge of this project – the company already has experience in building buildings of this purpose, so now the most important thing is to start and complete construction on time.

“Our company, which is the first and so far the only one in the history of independent Lithuania to build and hand over the Santaros Klinikos Infection and Tuberculosis Hospital to the customer, Santaros Klinikos, in November 2019, is proud to announce the start of construction of a new infectious disease hospital in Panevėžys. With extensive experience in constructing buildings of this type, we are committed to ensuring the highest quality and safety. The new hospital will not only contribute to the improvement of the healthcare infrastructure of the city of Panevėžys, but will also provide modern and safe conditions for patients and medical staff,” says Almantas Čebanauskas, head of EIKA Construction.

“This project reflects our ongoing pursuit of innovation and professionalism in the field of construction, and we are ready to implement it with the same passion and dedication as our previous projects,” he comments.

“The new 5-story building will house all the necessary departments: admission – emergency, hemodialysis, tuberculosis, diagnostic and patient isolation departments, operating rooms, laboratory, patient treatment departments, so the clinic will be able to function as a separate hospital. The resuscitation and intensive care unit for patients with infectious diseases operating in the clinic will provide an opportunity to ensure even higher-quality and safer diagnostics and treatment, avoiding transfers from one building to another. The latest technologies will be installed – special filters that purify the air, negative pressure will be ensured so that viruses do not get outside, all surfaces will be very easy to clean or covered with a special bacteria-killing coating. The clinic will provide the highest quality diagnostic and treatment services, allowing for complex treatment not only for patients with serious illnesses who have been diagnosed with a dangerous, infectious disease, but will also allow for the admission and treatment of patients during emergency situations,” says Arvydas Skorupskas, head of the hospital.

In 2019, EIKA Construction completed the construction of the Santariškės Infectious Diseases Hospital in Vilnius, creating the most modern infectious disease treatment facility in the Baltic States. The building features high energy efficiency, separate entrances for different patient groups, and special isolation rooms that help effectively manage the spread of infections. The hospital is also equipped with antibacterial coatings and modern ventilation systems that ensure a high level of hygiene.
