UAB “EIKA Construction” (former UAB “Eikos statyba”) has begun physical preparatory work for the construction of a military town at the Rūdninkų polygon. The company says that it managed to enter this phase of the project a month earlier than planned and is immediately taking other steps to ensure that this important facility for all of Lithuania is built in a high-quality manner and on time.
EIKA Construction signed the contract for the design and construction of the first phase of the military camp for the German brigade in August of this year. Since then, the company has been conducting mandatory research, measurements, preparing technologies, preparing design proposals, and organizing future construction processes.
At the current stage, exploratory geological surveys have been carried out to determine the granulometric composition and porosity of the existing soil, IGG project soundings have been carried out to determine the technical properties of the soil up to a depth of 13 meters, and the entire terrain of the plot has been scanned with a LIDAR system.
Now, physical work has also begun – the forest has been cut down in the planned area, and additional demining of the territory is still being carried out.
By March 2025, the terrain leveling works will be carried out at the training ground, and unsuitable soil will be removed. According to EIKA Construction’s calculations, during this stage, more than 250 thousand cubic meters of soil will need to be moved during the preparatory works on an area of 39 hectares. After these works, it is planned to begin the installation of field engineering networks and install the first pile of the Rūdninkai military town.
Almantas Čebanauskas, head of the company EIKA Construction, says that when preparing project proposals, all solutions are coordinated with representatives of the Infrastructure Management Agency, the Ministry of National Defence, and the German brigade.
“The coordination of pre-design proposals and solutions is carried out promptly and smoothly, we cooperate closely with the customer’s representatives, all aiming for a common goal – to build well and on time,” he emphasizes.
All planned construction work is scheduled to be completed in August 2027. To mark the completion of construction, EIKA Construction plans to offer the clients and the German brigade’s allies to plant an oak avenue to commemorate this cooperation.
“We are happy and proud to be able to contribute to a military infrastructure project of importance to all of Lithuania and the region, which will strengthen our defense capabilities and strengthen the country’s security. This is the largest project in the history of EIKA Construction, but we are not afraid of it at all, because we have extensive experience in building and managing large and important projects. This year alone, in 2024, we have successfully completed 2 large projects – the Vilnius Airport Departure Terminal and the Vilnius University Faculty of Medicine, each of which has a construction value of more than 50 million euros,” says A. Čebanauskas.
According to him, both the company EIKA Construction and each of its employees, as citizens, view this project as an important commitment to its successful and timely implementation.
“By contributing to the implementation of this facility, our team has an extraordinary opportunity to contribute to increasing the country’s security and sovereignty. In addition, this is a great opportunity for us to grow as professionals, specialists in our field, and strengthen as a team,” says the head of EIKA Construction.
