In Panevėžys, EIKA Construction (formerly Eikos statyba) is accelerating the construction of a new modern infectious diseases clinic, which will allow for safe and convenient provision of healthcare services. On Friday, a symbolic capsule was buried at the site of the future clinic, marking the successful completion of the planned works and the transition to the next stage of construction.
A new, modern hospital building in Panevėžys will replace 4 old hospital buildings that no longer function properly. EIKA Construction signed the contract for this project with the Public Institution “Respublikine Panevėžio ligonine” in July 2024, and began demolition work on the old buildings in January of this year.
EIKA Construction was entrusted with this project based on its previous experience, which includes the Santariškės Infectious Diseases Hospital built in 2019, the Vilnius University Medical Sciences Center completed last year, and other complex, non-standard projects.
“This project is not the largest or most complex of all the ones we have completed, but it is truly extraordinary, so we are happy that we will be able to use the potential of our company and the expertise of our employees to contribute to the implementation of this project,” said Almantas Čebanauskas, CEO of EIKA Construction.
He explained that this time the most difficult aspect of the project was its implementation in a still-operating hospital: “We had to find ways to move medical technology systems, outdoor electrical and communication networks while working next to still-operating buildings, and do all of this in a way that would not disrupt the hospital’s operations.”
Čebanauskas noted that this project is very important for the residents of Panevėžys: “Of course, none of us want to get sick. But if we do end up in the hospital, we want the environment to be comfortable and the doctors to have the best conditions. Especially now, when the competition for doctors across the country is enormous, the opportunity to work in new, modern premises will be another lever in the hands of Panevėžys.”
According to him, the burial of the capsule symbolically signifies that all work is moving in the right direction so far, and EIKA Construction will make every effort to make this project a success for all parties.
