EIKA awards scholarships to the best students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Vilnius University for the fourth time

Yesterday, March 16, during the closing evening of the VGTU Career Fair, EIKA General Director Domas Dargis presented the already traditional scholarships to the most advanced students and doctoral candidates of the VGTU Faculty of Civil Engineering. The scholarships have been provided for the fourth year in a row since 2014 and are one of the measures of EIKA’s talent development strategy..

This year, six first- and second-cycle students of the VGTU Faculty of Civil Engineering received EIKA nominal scholarships of 350 EUR each, and one doctoral student – Vytautas Tamulėnas – received a scholarship of 500 EUR. Students apply for the scholarship, and their applications are evaluated by a committee formed by the faculty according to pre-announced criteria. The most important criterion is progress, but other academic activities also have an impact. The total value of the one-year scholarship basket is 2600 EUR, and over four years more than 10000 EUR was awarded. In total, 20 students and 4 doctoral students received scholarships during the entire period.

According to EIKA CEO Domas Dargis, we operate in a market where specific and specialized technical knowledge is very important, therefore it is very important for us that construction managers, architects, engineers or real estate management specialists of the highest competence reach the labor market. “The scholarships we provide are only a small, but very important, incentive for the best students to pursue knowledge and prepare for the labor market,” says D. Dargis.

“The business initiative to encourage our students with named scholarships is very important to us. Having received recognition from EIKA, our most advanced students feel valued not only at the university, but also outside of it. The scholarships awarded by EIKA are very purposefully directed to the Faculty of Civil Engineering, which trains specialists in civil engineering, construction technologies and real estate development needed by the company. We know that a number of graduates of the Faculty of Civil Engineering are successfully working in the aforementioned company,” says Algirdas Juozapaitis, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at VGTU.

EIKA established the “EIKA Academy” in 2012, where students can work and practice on a flexible schedule. They receive an agreed remuneration and invaluable practical knowledge. Over the course of 5 years, 23 people have participated in the program, many of whom were EIKA scholarship holders. “We always remind students that in the construction sector, only theoretical knowledge without practice is worth little. We are an organization that pays special attention to students’ practice and preparation for work in real construction management projects. By providing students with the opportunity to practice, we strive to have excellent specialists working in the market, who would like to stay or return to Lithuania, while at the same time we are developing our own employees,” D. Dargis reveals the importance of practice.

Currently, UAB EIKA employs three EIKA academics and one intern from the Global Lithuanian Leaders (GLL) program “Talents for Lithuania”. EIKA has been participating in this program for the second year.
