Not only to plan, but also to stick to the plan, to speak briefly and specifically, to work at a fun pace, but to complete the day’s work on time – this is how one could describe the daily work style of Domas Dargis, General Director of real estate development and construction company UAB “Eika”.
“Verslo žinios” continues the project “Day with a CEO”, during which it communicates with the heads of the country’s companies, taking an interest in the specifics of their work, company management and strategic decisions.
On the day we met, Mr. Dargys’s schedule was filled with meetings from the very morning. In fact, the entire working day was spent walking from one meeting room at one end of the office to the other.
“I don’t wear a helmet,” Mr. Dargis laughs. “I work in an office, I spend a few hours a week on construction sites.”
The interviewee details that he starts work at 9 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. When I ask in surprise how he manages to close the office doors at such a traditional time, Mr. Dargis explains his choice simply: “I have a small child, I want to spend more time with him, just like other employees want to devote time to their family.”
“I make my own schedule. Since I don’t always have time to sit down at the computer during the day, I like to write emails in the morning, after making tea, before going to work. This way I get answers to them during the day. I tried writing emails in the evening, but then, for understandable reasons, it’s hard to expect promptness,” says Mr. Dargis.
