The company “Samogitia miestelis”, managed by the “Eika” group, has signed a general contracting agreement with “Gilesta”. According to the general contracting agreement, the company undertakes to perform all contract works for the Šiauliai military town from the moment of signing the agreement until March 2024. The amount of the contract is not disclosed.
According to Artūras Klangauskas, Head of the Infrastructure Department at Eika, the selection of the general contractor was very responsible. Gilesta convinced us that it could build a military camp within the set budget and on time. The company has experience and expertise in building public facilities in the Šiauliai region. In addition, during the competition, Gilesta representatives delved into the project, listened and were interested in solutions. They looked for solutions and opportunities to offer the optimal price. All these criteria determined our choice to continue the construction work of the military camp with this company,” says A. Klangauskas.
The scope of the contract includes all construction works – construction of buildings with full installation, furniture and technological equipment. The works – site plan arrangement, foundation construction, outdoor engineering networks – were performed by other contractors prior to the signing of this contract. The expected completion of the works is 1 March 2024.
“This is the construction of a special-purpose military unit. There are not many such projects in Lithuania, so we are happy that we will be able to contribute to the creation of modern military infrastructure, which, we hope, will help the Lithuanian military strengthen its positions in the context of today’s current affairs. In our activities, we focus on optimizing processes and costs, for which we use various automated software that allows us to analyze data in real time and make effective decisions. I believe that this is what led to the success of this general contracting tender,” comments Romas Paliulis, CEO of Gilesta.
The opening of the Šiauliai military town is planned for the second quarter of 2024. The planned area of the battalion-sized military town in Šiauliai is 7.8 hectares. Administrative and special-purpose buildings will be built in the town: barracks, a canteen, headquarters, a medical station, etc. Sports facilities and squares are also planned. Technical buildings will also be built in the town: warehouses, garages, a gas station, a car wash, and a shelter for technicians. Formation and technical squares, car parking spaces, including those specially adapted for electric vehicles and people with disabilities, will also be equipped.
