The new Tuberculosis and Infectious Diseases Hospital – a building ready for the worst viruses


In Vilnius, in the Santariškės Medical Campus, a new building for the treatment of tuberculosis and infectious diseases was completed in 2019. The hospital covers an area of ​​approximately 7,600 m² and is equipped with modern treatment, diagnostic and patient isolation areas.

The project was implemented by UAB “EIKA Construction” (formerly – UAB “Eikos statyba”), performing general contracting works and construction project management. During the contracting works, all general construction and special construction processes were coordinated, ventilation systems, tightness solutions and technological units necessary for a safe infectious disease infrastructure were installed. The implementation of the project contributed to the modernization of Vilnius’ public health infrastructure and created conditions for high-level diagnostics and treatment

The architectural and engineering solutions of the facility are designed to ensure maximum safety for patients and staff. Separate entrances have been installed for different infection groups, isolated wards have been formed, adapted for working with high-risk infections. The building has been equipped with efficient air circulation systems and structures ensuring high tightness. The ventilated facade system with porcelain ceramic finishing ensures the durability of the building and A energy class indicators.
