April 29th is the International Day Without an Elevator, which annually encourages people to choose stairs instead of elevators for at least one day, thus contributing not only to better well-being, but also to environmental protection. For the second year in a row, the EIKA Group of companies invites you to join this day – the initiative takes place in the capital’s business centers managed by EIKA Development.
A growing and community-engaging initiative
After last year’s “Day Without an Elevator”, this year the initiative is being expanded and is taking place in as many as nine business centers managed by EIKA Development in Vilnius.
Employees of Jasinskio2, Live Square, FLOW and the recently renovated Dvynių business center are invited to climb the stairs, as well as the business centers Evolution, L3, M7, Ulonų verslo centras and Saltoniškių g. 2 business center, owned by the investment management company EfTEN Capital and administered by EIKA Development.
During the initiative, special posters with the slogan: “For the elevator – day off, for the body – game on!”. However, participation in the campaign is voluntary and the elevators are not turned off.
Change starts with small habits
“A Day Without an Elevator” is not just a symbolic initiative for us – it is a reminder that sustainability starts with everyday choices that create both environmental and personal benefits. Sometimes it doesn’t require large investments – just a small change in habit,” says Jorūnė Juodžbalytė, Head of Sustainability and Innovation at EIKA Group.
She adds that energy savings are often measured in terms of lower costs or emissions, but in this case it has another very human side: “By choosing the stairs instead of the elevator, we not only reduce the building’s energy consumption, but we also get to move ourselves. Going up or down a few floors a day becomes an easy way to incorporate more activity into our work routine.”
EIKA Group is one of the largest real estate groups in the Baltic States, consistently investing in sustainability, a healthy work environment and innovation. Initiatives such as “A Day Without an Elevator” not only reflect the values of the group, but also help engage communities in meaningful change.
