EIKA Construction will complete the first phase of the Rūdninkai military town 10 months ahead of schedule

The largest military infrastructure project in the history of Lithuania is progressing even faster than planned – the Rūdninkai Military Campus Phase I will be completed not in half a year, but 10 months earlier. The contractor, UAB EIKA Construction, plans to complete the work by the end of 2026, when the contract deadline requires the work to be completed by August 2027.

“The successful and rapid development of the Rūdninkai military town proves that Lithuania can, knows how and does. Our security is created not only with words, but with concrete work – construction work will be completed even 10 months earlier than planned. Lithuanian business proves that it can implement the most ambitious projects,” said Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas at the Rūdninkai training ground.

The wreath raised above the German brigade headquarters building in the Rūdninkai military town is a symbol marking the highest point of the building.

“It is impressive to see how quickly the construction work in Rūdninkai is progressing. We are looking forward to moving into these new and ultra-modern barracks,” says Brigadier General Christoph Huber, Commander of the German Brigade in Lithuania.

The construction work of 17 out of 18 buildings has already been completed: dormitory storage rooms and roof buildings, the construction of the armory and warehouse buildings, and the garage buildings in the technical park have been completed. The construction work of the canteen structures is currently underway.

“Our entire team lives this project and is making maximum efforts to complete the first phase of the Rūdninkai military town even 10 months earlier than planned. Today, we can confidently say that the work will be completed by the end of next year. This result was determined by our many years of experience in implementing large-scale projects, extremely thorough preparation – 130 specialists in the office planned the work and design solutions for half a year before the start of construction – and close and constructive cooperation with the customer. It is symbolic that the first excavator entered the construction site exactly a year ago,” says Almantas Čebanauskas, CEO of EIKA Construction.

The infrastructure being developed for the German brigade demonstrates the strengthening of NATO’s collective defense in the region and the historic consolidation of the partnership with Germany. Today, 500 German soldiers and civilians are already serving in Lithuania, and by the end of 2027. their number will reach 5,000.

Upon completion of Phase I of the Rūdninkai military town, it will be able to house 600 soldiers and provide all critical infrastructure – from administration to technical maintenance. Upon completion of all Phases I and II of the town, it will be able to house up to 2,000 soldiers, and train and work – about 4,000 German brigade soldiers and 750 civilian specialists.

The relocation of the German brigade to Lithuania is one of the main priorities of the Government, which is receiving special attention. All military infrastructure created at the Rūdninkai training ground will belong to the Lithuanian state by right of ownership, and will be managed, used and disposed of by the Lithuanian Armed Forces by right of trust.
