Construction of the new Perkūnas pro-gymnasium has officially begun in the Perkūnkiem district of Vilnius – a buried symbolic capsule marking the start of an important educational infrastructure project. Pavilnioni str. On the 25th, a modern four-story school will be built, where it is planned to educate about 612 students. The school’s territory will occupy 1.48 ha.

Vilnius city leaders also emphasize the importance of the project for the city and the growing Perkūnkiemi district.
“The local community has been waiting for this pro-gymnasium for a long time – a school near the home really improves the quality of life for the whole family. It is also a step towards a city 15 minutes away from the place of residence, where basic services can be easily and quickly reached without a car. We are happy about this truly unique project of an educational institution based on modern solutions and a new approach to the learning environment,” said Vilnius Mayor Valdas Benkunskas during the capsule digging ceremony.
The school will stand out with its modern architecture and functional solutions. The pro-gymnasium will be equipped with specialized training classes, a swimming pool, high-quality sports infrastructure, and a spacious atrium will be located along the entire height of the building.
From the second floor, students will have direct access to an inner courtyard with sports fields, and a play area will be located on the roof of the library. There will be an open garden on the third floor, and a terrace on the fourth floor where children can continue their science lessons.
A 2,000 sq.m. building will be built next to the school. m sports field, under which there will be a shelter, and its public spaces will also contribute to the formation of the face and identity of the Perkūnkiemi district.
It is planned that the secondary school will open its doors to students in 2027. in September. The construction value is 28.2 million. euros.
