The first phase of the design and construction of a military camp for soldiers of the German brigade officially began on Monday in the Šalčininkai district, at the Rūdninkų polygon. The contract duration is 36 months, and the infrastructure will be created and handed over to the German brigade for use within three years.
During the first phase of construction, infrastructure for accommodation and military camp administration will be created on the almost 200-hectare training area. It is also planned to install military equipment and transport yards, repair shops, warehouses, a guardhouse and other infrastructure necessary to ensure the highest level of combat training for allied and Lithuanian soldiers.
“The construction of the Rūdninkų military training ground is not only a huge challenge, but also a great responsibility. This project is of strategic importance for Lithuania’s national security and strengthens our country’s defense capabilities, contributing to NATO goals. We understand that construction in such a unique location as the Rūdninkų Forest poses specific challenges related to environmental protection, logistics and infrastructure. However, we have experience in implementing complex projects that require high quality and safety requirements. Our team is ready to overcome all challenges and ensure that the training ground is built to the highest standards, on time and meets all requirements,” says Almantas Čebanauskas, Head of EIKA Construction.
A. Čebanauskas states that this project is a great opportunity to demonstrate the company’s competencies and commitment to the state of Lithuania: “We will use the latest technologies and solutions to ensure high construction quality and efficiency. We will also closely cooperate with all interested parties to inform the public about the progress of the project.”
Domas Dargis, CEO of EIKA Group, comments that this project is special for the company not only as entrepreneurs, but also simply for Lithuanians, members of society: “We are very proud to have the opportunity to contribute to increasing Lithuania’s security. We all understand how important this is in these tense times, so we know that we must work quickly, with high quality and consider all possible nuances – and that is exactly what we will do.”
“Comprehensive trust is extremely important when constructing buildings for such purposes. We understand that this is not an everyday task and certainly not every real estate developer can perform it. After analyzing all market options and conducting a tender, we were convinced that EIKA Construction can best implement this task. We will continue to consistently cooperate throughout the entire construction period so that the future infrastructure meets all of our expectations and serves its purpose,” says Giedrius Vanagas, Head of the Infrastructure Management Agency under the Ministry of National Defence (IVA).
The EIKA group already has experience in implementing projects of this type – this is the second military town it has built. This year, a military town was opened in Šiauliai, the project of which was implemented by the EIKA group companies “Partnerystės projektai keturi” and “Samogitia miestelis”.
The area of this battalion-sized military town in Šiauliai covers 7.8 hectares. The town, which is designed for permanent residence of about 660 soldiers, has administrative and special-purpose buildings: barracks, a canteen, headquarters, a medical post, sports facilities, etc. The town also has technical buildings: warehouses, garages, a gas station, a car wash, a shelter for technicians. There are also formation and technical areas, and parking lots, including those specially adapted for electric cars and people with disabilities.
