Vilnius University and the contractor UAB EIKA Construction (formerly UAB Eikos statyba) have signed a contract for the construction of the Faculty of Medicine Science Center. This is one of the largest general contracting projects carried out by the company, significant in both its scope and investments.
The future 17 thousand sq. m building is intended for medical science activities. It will house laboratories for genetic research, biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, dentistry and other fields, which will create conditions for both fundamental and applied research. This is another important step in the construction of medical buildings in Lithuania.
“After the construction of the Infectious Diseases Unit at the end of 2019, this Science Center of the Faculty of Medicine creates an opportunity for us to accumulate even greater experience in the construction of medical-related buildings – we become true experts, and at the same time we accept the obligation to perform work qualitatively and on time in one of the largest projects in the company’s history, both in terms of scope and investment,” says UAB EIKA Construction General Director Almantas Čebanauskas.
The project is being implemented in accordance with high energy efficiency requirements and sustainable construction principles. This will strengthen the scientific infrastructure in Vilnius and create conditions for interdisciplinary research and its application in clinical practice.
