At the general meeting of the Lithuanian Green Building Council (LGBC) held at the end of April, the President and Chairman of the Board of the LGBC, Remigijus Simanavičius, were elected for the 2022-2024 term, as well as the new LGBC Board, which includes Laura Nariūnienė (Acoustic Research Center), Jorūnė Juodžbalytė (Eika), Kęstutis Kvietkauskas (SEES Group), Gintaras Stauskis (Vilnius Tech), Egidijus Dargevičius (Vesta Consulting), Linas Venslovas (Conresta). The Board members represent real estate development, general contracting and construction, consulting services and research companies, as well as a technical university.
“The new board is facing a period full of great challenges and changes, when creating a sustainable environment will become the norm for the majority of participants in the construction and real estate sector,” says LŽPT President Remigijus Simanavičius. According to him, rational use of resources, reducing environmental impact, application of the principles of sustainability, social responsibility, circular economy, “green” procurement in corporate activities will gain increasing importance, and certification of sustainable buildings, use of the life cycle analysis method, calculation of CO2 emissions will become important in the work of architects, engineers, and developers.
The Lithuanian Green Building Council is a non-profit organization that promotes the creation of a sustainable environment, the construction of green buildings and innovations in the real estate market in Lithuania. The organization unites professionals, innovators and leaders in various real estate fields. The main goals of the Council are: to form national green building standards, to increase the number and skills of green building professionals through training, to educate the public about the benefits of green buildings and their positive impact on human health and the environment, and to strive for the emergence of legislation promoting sustainable development.
