EIKA has provided space in Žvėrynas to major non-governmental organizations that help Ukrainian refugees in Vilnius

“EIKA” has provided premises in Žvėrynas to major non-governmental organizations that help Ukrainian refugees in Vilnius, where humanitarian support will continue to be provided. The 4.5 thousand sq. m. building located at Blindžių g. 24A is gradually turning into a center where refugees will be able to receive temporary accommodation and food, psychological assistance for children and adults, support with hygiene items, and essential items (clothes, household items, child care items).

Currently, the building is already home to Caritas Lithuania and the Lithuanian Red Cross. It is planned that these organizations will soon be joined by “Save the Children”, “Food Bank”, etc. Non-governmental organizations will move to this location from the current registration center on Minties Street. The premises are provided until at least the end of the summer. Several partners have joined forces so that this unused building can be transformed into a humanitarian center. “Servico” cleaned and tidied the building, “Vilniaus vandenys” provides free water, “Vilniaus šilumos tinklai” provides heat, and “Ignitis” provides electricity.

“During the war, we all try to do what we can to help Ukraine and its people. Circumstances have developed in such a way that at the moment we have a large unused, but operational building in the center of Vilnius, which is waiting for permission to give it a new life. Immediately after the war began, we offered it to large non-governmental organizations to use as they see fit. This is a great example of how a building can be adapted and used for good purposes during the transition period,” says Domas Dargis, General Director of EIKA.
