UAB “Eika” is starting to sell apartments with solar electricity in its developed projects, and “Antakalnio panorama” is the first project where customers who purchase apartments by autumn will also become co-owners of a remote solar power plant. “Green” electricity will be supplied to them from the solar energy company, “Saulės grėjos” power plants.
“This cooperation with residential projects is the first in the Lithuanian market, which was prompted by the desire to offer consumers an innovation, while at the same time encouraging them to try and start using environmentally friendly energy. Many imagine that people can use and apply solar energy only when living in their own house, having installed a solar power plant on the roof of the house or on their own plot. When living in an apartment or cottage, you can just as easily use cheaper solar energy from a purchased remote solar power plant,” says Martynas Žibūda, Eika Development Manager.
“Green” solar energy will be supplied to the future residents of “Antakalnios Panorama” via electricity networks from a solar park located in Kuršėnai. The main advantages of using solar electricity for the consumer are up to 3 times lower electricity bills, for example, while currently paying EUR 50 per month for electricity, having your own power plant in the “Saulės grėjos” solar park will result in paying EUR 18.67 for electricity. Other advantages are the opportunity to be energy independent, fostering a sustainable lifestyle and an “environmentally friendly” image in society.
According to the latest data, there are currently 5,913 households in Lithuania that are self-sufficient in electricity, and this number is constantly growing, and most of them are owners of solar power plants living in their own homes. So far, there is only one solar park operating in Lithuania, located near Elektrėnai, which is used by over 300 households. Over 250 people from all over Lithuania have already purchased more than 1 MW in the “Saulės grėjos” solar park in Kuršėnai, which will start operating from November 30 and should become the third operating solar park in Lithuania. From the end of July until autumn, residents who purchase an apartment in the “Antakalnio panorama” project, located on Smėlio g., will receive 2kW of solar energy for 25 years. In most cases, this power will fully cover the costs of 2-room apartments. If necessary, the consumer will be able to purchase more solar energy.
The first fund managed by Eika Asset Management, Eika Residential Fund, invested in the Antakalnio Panorama project.
