Vilnius’ Gediminas Avenue will be energized by a new space called “Live Square”

On the capital’s Gedimino Avenue, near Lukiškės Square, a new space called “Live Square” will open to Vilnius residents from August 26 to 29. It is expected that it will bring more energy to the city’s main street, and the public terrace will become a new attraction for citizens. On Thursday, the 29th, at 5 p.m., we invite you to the birth of the installation, where the performative work “Step on Step” will take place. During the performance, the performers of the Brevis chamber choir will produce musical chords and various melodies by changing their positions on the escalator.

During the opening days, Live Square will be filled with mirror installations called “City Reflections.” Mirror elements of various shapes, located in different locations, will invite you to experience the transformations of urban space and capture yourself in the reflections of the city.

Musical performances will create a festive mood – energetic Rūta Loop, who combines different musical styles in her work, the string quartet “Art Vio” and multi-instrumentalist Saulius Petreikis will share cheerful pieces.

On August 26–28, Vilnius residents will also be able to take a walk around the first four-star hotel in Lithuania, Hilton Garden Inn, on special tours. However, advance registration is required.

On August 27, at 5 p.m., a talk about Gediminas Avenue will be held on the terrace of Live Square, which is open to everyone – its creation, historical changes, current challenges and future prospects. The talk, open to the public, is planned to be attended by Mindaugas Pakalnis, the chief architect of the city of Vilnius, Ingrida Tamošiūnienė, the author of the book about Gediminas Avenue, art historian Saulius Pilinkus, who will remember the bohemian times spent with maestro Vytautas Kernagis, Domas Dargis, the head of the company Eika that built Live Square, and residents of the avenue.

“Live Square”, which was built in almost two years, combines a 6,300 sq. m. business center with a shopping gallery, a 164-room 4-star hotel “Hilton Garden Inn” with a 250 sq. m. conference center, and residential buildings with 88 apartments.

The business center is leased by the law firm Sorainen and the first co-working center in the Baltic States, Spaces. The shopping gallery houses the coffee bar Vero Cafe, the pharmacy Benu, the flower salon Florisima, the Swiss watch store Geneva, the teahouse Formosa, the store Narvesen and the first new concept store Rimi Express.
