The construction of a new city swimming pool is underway in Molėtai – the work is being carried out by the contractor UAB “EIKA Construction” (formerly – UAB “Eikos statyba”), with whom the municipality has signed a 3-year contract. The general contracting project will be implemented in two stages.
In the first stage, a new swimming pool building will be built near the Molėtai Culture and Sports Center. It will feature a 25-meter-long, four-lane swimming pool that meets FINA requirements, a sauna area, and a water entertainment area with underwater massage beds, an air massage wall, and a massage tub. The pool will be adapted for children and people with disabilities.
The second phase plans to install a universal sports hall with a training area, café, kitchen and athletes’ facilities, which will be used together with the nearby sports center and stadium.
This is one of the most significant public building construction projects in the region, which will be implemented in accordance with the principles of sustainable construction. It is expected that the new swimming pool will become an important investment in a healthier and more active life for the residents of the Molėtai district and will encourage the city to be visited in all seasons.
