“The construction is so modern that it seems like we are living in a future we created”

Amid rapid changes in the construction sector, UAB “EIKA Construction” (formerly – UAB “Eikos statyba”) is consistently implementing digital tools and sustainable solutions, strengthening its general contracting and construction project management competencies. According to the company’s CEO Almantas Čebanauskas, technological progress is fundamentally changing the organization of construction processes and quality standards.

According to A. Čebanauskas, the modernization of construction today is taking place at an extremely fast pace: new systems are emerging faster than they can be adapted. Drones, laser measuring devices, digital cameras and mobile applications are used daily on construction sites. These tools form a real-time project information environment:
“Today, we work in construction in a way that previously only seemed possible in a vision of the future – technology has made processes more precise, safer, and more efficient,” – says A. Čebanauskas.

The company actively applies BIM methodology at all stages of projects – from design to handover of the facility. The manager notes that BIM has already become an integral part of the modern construction site:
“Every employee using a smartphone essentially becomes part of the BIM process. This changes the culture of information management and the organization of work.”

Over the past 16 years, UAB “EIKA Construction” has strengthened its reputation as a reliable contractor and expanded the scope of general contracting services. The company has grown rapidly and invested in strengthening its competencies: surveyors, experts in special works, and new construction project managers have joined the team. A recruitment program has been launched to include specialists from abroad in the team, helping to address the labor shortage felt throughout the market.

Installing Statreg employee competence registration system has become an additional step in ensuring qualification verification and work quality. The data collected in the system allows for assessing the preparation of specialists and more effective planning of human resources.

The company’s project portfolio includes objects designed and built according to BREEAM sustainability standard and fully controlled using 3D BIM models. The BIM environment is used not only for design, but also for construction process management, supply, logistics, and operation.

In recent years, several large-scale projects have been launched in Vilnius:

  • Construction of the most modern tuberculosis hospital in Europe in Santariškės, where it is planned to create more than 7,500 m² of A energy efficiency area, install engineering networks, terraces and infrastructure;

  • construction of a multi-storey car park in Santariškės, which is subject to extremely short deadlines and high requirements for structural installation;

  • Hilton hotel, administrative building and residential complex on Dainavos str., characterized by particularly difficult construction conditions in the city center and requiring non-standard engineering solutions.

A. Čebanauskas emphasizes that the company’s progress is related to the constant ability to adapt to market changes:
“Changes are necessary – they allow the company to move forward. All technological progress is possible only due to the curiosity of the teams and active participation in the activities of the Lithuanian Builders’ Association.”
