Visitors to the RESTA exhibition held last week were able to get acquainted with the latest and smartest solutions in construction – digital construction and building information modeling (BIM).. Building Information Modelling, BIM), and at the largest exhibition event, the conference “Digital Construction 2017. Vilnius”, the best construction projects of Lithuanian companies that used the BIM methodology were awarded. In the category “BIM in residential buildings”, the winner was the apartment buildings at Karaliaučiaus g. 7b, Vilnius. The project provider is UAB “Eika”.
The conference “Digital Construction 2017. Vilnius” focused on the benefits of BIM for the client and asset management topics. Presentations were made by specialists from Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands and Catalonia, and also presented the current developments in the development of BIM methodology in Lithuania and the situation in the preparation of documents necessary for the development of digital construction in our country.
The event was crowned by the award ceremony of the competition “Lithuanian BIM Projects 2017” and the presentation of the best construction projects. For the second time, the competition organized by the Public Institution “Digital Construction”, the Lithuanian Builders’ Association and the magazine “Construction and Architecture” aimed to select the best practices of Lithuanian companies using BIM technologies and methodology.
Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology is being actively implemented and developed in many countries around the world. In Lithuania, digital technologies in design, construction, and facility management, which help save project implementation time, minimize the likelihood of errors, and efficiently operate buildings, began to be actively discussed several years ago.
The competition “Lithuanian BIM Projects”, which is being held for the second year, allows us to see that there are already projects in our country that stand out for their quality and use BIM elements.
The competition organizers received a total of 20 applications to participate in the competition, from which winners were selected in 6 categories.
