Architects are invited to create a vision for the complex on Gedimino Avenue

The Lithuanian Union of Architects and real estate developer Eika are inviting architects to an international competition to design a multifunctional complex on Gedimino Avenue in Vilnius. Construction of the complex is planned to begin in early 2017.. 

The multifunctional complex will consist of a 4-star hotel with approximately 150 rooms, a 5,000 sq m business centre, a luxury apartment building, a shopping arcade and an open public gallery. The total area of ​​the project is planned to exceed 18,000 sq m, and the buildings will border Dainavos, V. Kudirkos streets and Gedimino avenue.

 

“This will be one of the most interesting projects not only in the history of the company “Eika”, but also in the history of Vilnius. A new pedestrian zone will appear on Gedimino Avenue and a strong center of attraction in the section of the avenue between Lukiškės Square and the Seimas Palace,” says Domas Dargis, CEO of the “EIKA” group of companies.

 

The task presented to the architects is to harmonize the different functional parts of the complex, harmoniously integrate the buildings on Gedimino Avenue, incorporate the early 20th century building on Dainavos Street, and also functionally plan pedestrian and car zones.

 

The competition proposals will be evaluated by a commission formed by the Lithuanian Union of Architects and the project developer “Eika”, and the three best works will be awarded with cash prizes. Registration of participants is open until September 9, and works will be accepted until September 26.
