Residents freed Pilaitė from garbage

 

During the clean-up, residents and Eika residents spent several hours cleaning their yards, Pilaitė fields, uninhabited plots, the area near the forest, and the Pupa shopping center. “The Pilaitė district is valued for its natural surroundings – the settlement is surrounded by forests, there are three lakes, a stream flows here, and there are great places for walks with the family. Unfortunately, as everywhere else, mountains of garbage have accumulated here over time. We just couldn’t find anything – tires, furniture, and even old coats,” – wondered representatives of the Eika company, who, together with residents, collected several dozen bags of garbage.

 

According to Viktorija Venclovaitė, Head of the Commercial Projects Department at Eika, the organizers did not even expect that so many people would come together to help – residents brought their families, neighbors, and friends. “We are very happy that the settlement we built has a friendly and active community that cares about nurturing its area. We were convinced that people live here who are not indifferent to nature, ecology, and the environment in which they live,” she says.

After cleaning and beautifying the area, the residents of Pilais were given coupons, with which they could enjoy cepelinai at the restaurant “Forto dvaras” after the donation. During the hearty lunch, the residents relaxed, shared their impressions and had a good time. Meanwhile, representatives of the company “Eika”, sitting at the same table with the residents and the chairman of one of the associations, listened to the residents’ expectations and discussed future plans and initiatives.
