5,000 people will live in a low-rise architectural town in Santariškės

The construction of the Santariškės district low-rise residential project “Santariškės namai”, which began in the summer, is progressing rapidly.

The construction of the Santariškių namai low-rise residential project in the Santariškių district, which began in the summer, is progressing rapidly. The real estate development companies Eika and Hanner, which are jointly implementing the development project for this territory, have already built the first seven floors of the houses. Santariškių namai is the first residential project that these two real estate development companies are implementing together on an area of 7 hectares.

A joint venture “Santariškių namai” was established to develop the project, in which both companies own 50 percent of the shares.

“The companies successfully completed two separately developed projects in the same territory. Then we decided to join forces, organizational and professional experience,” says Robertas Dargis, director of UAB “Eika”.

The architectural solution of the “Santariškės namai” settlement is an intermediate option between a city and a traditional country house. The architecture of the settlement was created by the group of famous architect Vytenis Gerliakas. The magazine “Privati erdvė” recognized the house of this group of architects in Santariškės as the best residential apartment building project of 2005-2006.

The settlement, which is being developed in the vicinity of the 2,670-hectare Verkiai Regional Park, will consist of three harmonious groups of houses. When construction is completed in 2010, the settlement’s twenty-two houses will contain approximately 600 apartments.

Then, the development of a 12-hectare quarter in Santariškės, resembling a small town with low-rise architecture, will be completed. It will be home to about 5,000 people.

In the already equipped houses of the Santariškės settlement, where 600 apartments were built by UAB “Eika” and 150 apartments by the company “Hanner”, most of the residents are young families with children. Young mothers who are expecting and already pushing baby strollers are a typical sight of the settlement.

Older children in the district attend Jeruzalė and Baltupiai secondary schools and kindergartens operating in Baltupiai.

According to residents, this neighborhood is home to a young and “suited” generation, ambitious and constantly in a hurry, discussing everyday problems in their own self-established opinion forum.
