A Vilnius resident won the main prize in the “Aušra” lottery.
January 3, 2007, Vilnius. The winner of the main prize in the lottery organized by the first specialized fashion and beauty shopping center “Aušra” in Utena County is not a resident of Utena, but a resident of Vilnius.
Among the almost 15.5 thousand lottery participants, a third are buyers from other cities in the county and Vilnius. A similar proportion remains when analyzing the total flow of visitors to the center.
According to Martynas Žibūda, head of the commercial premises department of the real estate company Eika, which manages Aušra, an analysis of visitor flows proves that there is an untapped niche in the regions: “After the opening of Aušra, similar shopping centers opened in Marijampolė and Alytus, so there are buyers with purchasing power in all regions.” According to M. Žibūda, the industrial goods market is currently the most underdeveloped there, so in the future there will be more specialized shopping centers in the regions.
According to Daiva Trapnauskienė, director of “Aušra”, a successfully formed package of goods and services has a significant impact on the success of specialized shopping centers: “In December, the number of visitors exceeded 150 thousand, i.e. 1.5 times more than we predicted: the offer here is equal to that in big cities, so buyers realized that more interesting gifts can be found in Utena.”
Since the opening of the shopping center, everyone who spent at least 20 litas at Aušra could participate in the lottery. Luck smiled on three residents of Utena: Deividas Kurnevičius, Jurgita Banytė, Inga Juodytė and Jonas Gintaras Balšaitis from Vilnius – they were awarded gift vouchers worth 500, 1000, 2000 and 3000 litas for shopping at the shopping center.
Jonas Gintaras Balšaitis has a homestead nearby, so he visits “Aušra” regularly. “The assortment is large, and the prices are much more affordable than in Vilnius,” says the winner of the biggest lottery prize.
According to M. Žibūda, Eika intends to build similar shopping centers in other counties.
