Tūkstantmetis’ square

In the Naujininkai district, near Tūkstantmečio and Dariaus and Girėno streets, the creation of Tūkstantmečio Square is planned on a 1.2-hectare area. The project covers an undeveloped area currently overgrown with scrub, which local residents use for gardening and household farming activities. Once the square is developed, the tradition of community gardens is planned to be preserved and continued, leaving designated spaces for local residents.

The area will be developed into a public recreational space with a promenade, pedestrian paths, quiet relaxation zones and an active leisure area where sports facilities are planned. Once implemented, this part of the city will become a structured and functional public space, adapted to different leisure and community needs. The construction works are being carried out by EIKA Construction, which plans to complete them by the end of 2026, about 10 months earlier than scheduled in the contract.
