A Japanese garden in Vilnius was created on the site of a former neglected pond, which had been filled with construction waste before work began. During the project, the pond’s bank was restored and in places widened by up to 6 meters, allowing paths to be laid around the entire body of water. The landscape was shaped by creating a hilly relief — earth mounds up to 16 meters high were formed and integrated into the urban environment.

The solutions for composing the relief, stones, and spaces were coordinated with Japanese garden design specialist Laura Fukumoto. The garden includes pedestrian bridges, paths, lighting, stone compositions, and water features. The wooden structures are made from solid oak using traditional joinery methods. The total park area covers 5 hectares.
